Inspired by Portugal's Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries, Torel 1884 is a tribute to the cultural encounters of pioneering Portuguese explorers in Africa, the Americas, and Asia.

In the heart of Porto, Portugal, Torel 1884 stands as a premier destination under the esteemed Torel Boutiques brand, marking their second establishment in the city following the success of Torel Avantgarde in 2017. Housed in a grand 19th-century mansion just a short walk from Avenida dos Aliados and the picturesque Ribeira riverside, this hotel boasts 12 distinct rooms and suites, luxurious reception areas, and a captivating wine bistro. Additionally, the hotel offers 11 apartments located a few meters away in a separate building.

What makes it Kobu

Torel Porto Lounge
Each floor of the three-story building embodies the essence of one of these continents, with interior designs curated to reflect a modern, sophisticated, and well-traveled art and design collector's aesthetic. Crafted by the renowned local studio Nano Design, the hotel's thematic interiors avoid nostalgia and instead exude a refined elegance that resonates with global explorers and art enthusiasts alike.
While the décor is imbued with exotic themes, the restoration of this historic mansion, which is over a century old, depended heavily on a cadre of Portuguese artisans, craftsmen, and suppliers. These skilled individuals played a crucial role in refurbishing various elements, including parquet flooring, stone cladding, wooden balustrades, and plaster cornices.
