Perched dramatically above the sandstone cliffs of Palma, this serene cliffside retreat transforms a decommissioned 19th-century military fortress into a glamorous seaside resort.

Book

A former military fortress, Cap Rocat is in the most secluded area of Palma de Mallorca’s bay. Stunningly blended into the landscape, this magnificent fortress has been refurbished by Antonio Obrador without altering its unique architecture and its natural environment. The panoramic terrace above the Fortress Hall is an excellent area for a cocktail during the warm summer evenings with stunning panoramic views of the bay of Palma.

The Details

What makes it Kobu

Surrounded by clear waters, Cap Rocat is naturally keen to conserve its ocean environment. The hotel has pledged to be zero-waste and has already taken measures to replace straws, bottles and cosmetic containers with biodegradable alternatives. They have also joined the WHOLE WORLD WATER initiative, an innovative campaign in partnership with UNHCR (United Nations Agency for Refugees). The hotel filters, bottles and sells water, and a percentage goes toward the campaign’s one billion dollar goal.

Located in a fortress built for the surveillance of the Bay of Palma, Cap Rocat posed a great challenge in terms of its restoration, which involved transforming the facilities into a hotel as well as complying with the strict regulations governing a building declared a Heritage Asset and listed as a National Monument.
