GoldenEye – Oracabessa

Oracabessa, Jamaica, From £329

GoldenEye is not an ordinary hotel, but a collection of private villas, cottages and beach huts. Each is set amid tropical gardens, private beaches and secluded coves—a Jamaica home away from home. GoldenEye is a place. A mindset. A far-reaching myth in the collective imagination. And yet, GoldenEye couldn’t exist anywhere in the world—except, of course, exactly where it is…

Star studded shores

We can see why James Bond novel writer Ian Flemming took inspiration from the pristine shores of Oracabessa. Not only did he write all 13 of his novels at Golden Eye Estate, the first movie was filmed just yards away. Since Flemming passed, iconic Island Records founder, Chris Blackwell, bought the estate, turning it into what it is today and bringing floods of A-listers with him. Even the trees are in on it, planted by the stars!

Saving our seas

Something we can all agree on - saving our planet's oceans before it’s too late. GoldenEye is shows us how it’s done with their pioneering projects. To name one, they only sell eco sunscreen in their gift shop. They’re working hard to preserve our precious coral reefs from toxic effects caused by sun screen, of which 4,000 to 6,000 tons enters our coral reefs every year, something many don’t consider when taking a dip. That said, don’t ditch the screen all together, we don’t want you to ruin your suave 007 beach photos.
