Ice Hotel – Jukkasjärvi

Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, From £121

About

Icehotel was the world's first hotel made of ice and snow. Founded in 1989, it's reborn every winter in the Swedish village of Jukkasjärvi. Then artists from all over the world come together in the town to take part in creating the art exhibition of snow, ice and light that makes up Icehotel.

What makes this Kobu?

What makes this Kobu?

Only temporary

The 40 artists who are invited to build Icehotel spend months planning their creations and weeks meticulously carving them. All for their work to be a mere puddle a few months later. Which is kind of sad but also makes for a truly unique stay.

Traditional flavours

The hotel's timber homestead restaurant dates back to 1768. Here you'll find local meat and fish cooked over a coal-fired oven, served with a generous portion of potatoes and sauces that reflect the tastes of the region. It's the place to get your true taste of Sweden.
