Parker Palm Springs – California

Palm Springs, USA, From £250

This bright white free-standing structure with its own front lawn and paved approach is your home away from home. Characteristic of the mid-century architectural vernacular that defines Palm Springs: low-slung horizontal planes, white slump-block cladding, an indoor-slash-outdoor interior with open-air pass-through to a private enclosed patio.

You'll also find your own treatment room with a sauna, a terrace leading from the open-plan living area for dining or cocktails and a screening room.

By design, Parker is transitional and transformative. It serves the solitary guest who requires room to roam, becomes a hideaway for seclusion-seeking couples or merely the comfortable space for friends or family.

We’re all mad here

There are moments - or more specifically, rooms - where you feel you could be in Marrakech. Others in Alice’s Wonderland. In the communal areas, you go from room to room with no design narrative guiding you through. Instead the theme shifts with each threshold. They do have a few things in common: they're bold, bright and thrilling. The suites are just as exciting with an eclectic mix of 1960s glamour and Californian boho.

The gardens

Much like Wonderland, you can lose yourself in the untamed beauty of the gardens. Bougainvillaea interrupts the tropical plants and offers a big bright flash of pink onto the green canvas. Palm trees tower and little seating areas are nestled here and there for those quiet moments.
