In 1960, Dr Stavridis commenced the construction of the “Margi House”, a complex of 18 luxury apartments in the lush pinewood forest of Vouliagmeni. The Margi House, a wise yet brave investment, was immediately recognised by the press as “a private initiative achievement which honours Greek tourism’’. Dr Stavridis chose to name the hotel after his two lovely daughters, Maria and Gina, a subtle indication of his bond with The Margi. To this day it has remained a family-run business, with the grandchildren of the visionary doctor at the helm of The Margi Hotel.
Some twenty kilometres inland on a vast agricultural site is the setting for The Margi Farm. The Margi has a strong farm to fork ethos with Permaculture playing a massive part in the daily running of the kitchen here. Fruit, vegetables, olive oil, eggs and even cheese are produced on the farm, and private guided tours and veg picking are available to guests.
A boutique hotel and SLH member in the most exclusive area of the Athenian Riviera, Vouliagmeni, The Margi Hotel is a heaven away from home. In an ideal location just a few steps from the Riviera’s most elegant sandy beaches and close enough to Athens Historical sites.
With superb cuisine and organic food from the farm, the friendly and attentive staff meets exquisite design, this hotel offers a truly memorable experience as wells as a comfortable ambience for travellers all year round.
