Having been in the same family for over 200 years, the estate has its heart at the Monte. This ancient small farming village has been brought carefully back to life as a remarkable hotel of understated luxury, surrounded by ancient holm oaks, olive groves, and vineyards.

Book

Open your room door and step directly onto the monte's main street. Every architecture detail was planned to make you discover the farm and its perks. Heritage meets natural materials and quality design and that is felt throughout all our guest rooms and cottages, where interiors cleverly combine selected Portuguese vintage pieces with contemporary crafted furniture and accessories.

The Details

What makes it Kobu

São Lourenço do Barrocal’s approach to sustainability looks to the past when building the present and future. Since its foundation in 1820 as a farming village, the community that lived here followed a self-sustainable path. Everything needed to live a happy and fulfilled life was either sourced or produced on site. Barrocal’s new life would have to honour the history, culture and traditions of this place.

Wild flowers and millenary olive trees, vegetables and cereals, grapes and meat: all this is part of the universe that is São Lourenço do Barrocal. Agriculture and livestock are one of the most unique components of the estate, paying a fair tribute to the people who founded it. It is an expression of the local nature that attracts birds, butterflies and all other sorts of wildlife. Green is always present, to appease the sunny summers, merging with the gold of the landscape.
